Bike to School Week - Connecting Personal and Collective Action

Through the week of June 3rd to 7th students from Kindergarten to Grade 7 had the opportunity to participate in the annual Bike to [School] Week.  We had in excess of 70% participation on one or all of the days, including students who found other active transportation modes.  Students had the opportunity to see how their individual action contributed to a significant reduction in vehicle traffic at morning drop-off and after-school pick-up times.  Through participation in programs like this our students develop an understanding that being connected and part of a community can effect positive change.  We had some friendly competition between classes for most bicycle trips and ended the week with a Bike Parade Celebration!
