Dear Errington Eagle Families,

I hope that all of our families celebrating Lunar New Year with past week have had a wonderful time.  We saw quite a few tired children at school, so I am certain lot’s of fun was had by all.

A big THANK YOU to the parents who supported our Community Movie Night on Thursday, we had a great turn out for the first one of the year.  It was a fun way to start the Family Day Long Weekend together.  The new projector purchased by the PAC delivered excellent picture quality! Look out for the next one after our Spring Break!

The jump rope training and fundraising drive are well underway for Friday’s JUMP ROPE for HEART DAY, remember to register your child(ren) on the Jump Rope Website, details in the attached flyers (also in last week’s “What’s Up”).

If you have been in the school recently you may have noticed a new fridge has been installed in the Foyer.  The school district has begun a pilot project with some community partners to provide healthy food options to make sure that everyone has the nutrition to learn at their best.  We will be stocking the fridge with a variety of food options and the message is, “If you are hungry and don’t have anything from home to eat, help yourself.”  It is not a free-for-all idea, so please remind your children that it is there for when they really need it, not when they don’t like what they brought from home, for example.  Thank you for your help!  If you have any feedback to share, please let me know.

Lastly, we have an early dismissal day coming up on Tuesday, February 27th @ 11:50a to provide time for in person Learning Updates.  Many teachers may have begun scheduling or even hosting families for Learning Updates already.  Please make sure that you plan to meet with your child’s teacher, these conversations are a very important part of the learning experience for students.  If it is necessary to cancel and reschedule your appointment time, please give the teacher as much notice as possible and call the school office at 604-668-6699 if you are going to be late.  Classroom teachers have between 20 and 28 appointments, and it is important that we are respectful of everyone’s time.

I hope that you will enjoy the extra days to spend time with family this weekend!!

Be safe, be active and get outside!

Regards,
